The MotheRetreat team of birth and postpartum doulas in branded shirts, standing together outdoors in South Florida

If you found us through a search, a friend, or your employer’s benefits platform, it is fair to ask who you are actually dealing with. MotheRetreat is a doula agency in Miami founded and run by Olga Proskuryakova, a South Florida mother of two. Here is the plain version of who is behind the name and how the work is organized, so you can decide whether we fit before you book a call.

The founder

Olga started MotheRetreat from her own experience as a mother. She remembers the first weeks with a newborn as a mix of joy, loneliness, and overload, made heavier by the quiet pressure to look like a perfect mom on almost no sleep. That is the gap the agency was built to close: not to take the baby away from you, but to make sure you are not doing the hardest part alone.

Her training is broad on purpose. Olga is a CAPPA-certified birth doula and childbirth educator, a certified postpartum doula through Doula Link, and a breastfeeding counselor certified by AHEC. She has also trained as a midwife assistant with Natural Birthworks and in Spinning Babies techniques. She speaks English and Russian, and she meets every new family herself before anyone is assigned to them.

Her own words are the standard we hire by: “Every doula on our team is someone I would trust in my own home.”

How the team is put together

We are an agency, not a directory. On a directory you interview strangers one by one and hope the reviews are honest. With us, the vetting has already happened before you meet anyone: every doula on the team is certified, insured, and background-checked, and each candidate passes an internal evaluation before joining.

Because it is one team, birth and postpartum support come from the same place. The doula beside you in the delivery room and the one who takes your nights at home work from the same notes, the same standards, and the same coordinator.

One coordinated plan per family

After the consultation, every family gets a single plan: who your primary doula is, which days or nights are covered, what the goals are, and what happens if something changes. A vetted backup doula is arranged in advance, not found on the day. If your primary doula is ill or at another birth, the replacement already knows your name and your baby’s routine.

A coordinator watches the schedule so you do not have to. If a shift needs adjusting, a message to the office is enough. Families tell us this is the part they end up relying on most.

What we do, and what we do not

  • Birth doula support: prenatal preparation and continuous presence during labor at your hospital or birth center.
  • Postpartum doula care: daytime help in the first weeks and months, from feeding and recovery to keeping the household from tipping over.
  • Overnight newborn care: night shifts so you sleep while your baby is fed, changed, settled, and watched.

In South Florida we also teach private childbirth and newborn care classes at home.

One thing we are careful about: overnight care is provided by postpartum doulas and newborn care specialists, not licensed nurses. In Florida “nurse” is a protected medical title. Families searching for a “night nurse” are usually looking for exactly what a trained overnight doula does, which is feeding, soothing, safe sleep, and letting the parents rest. If your baby needs clinical monitoring, we will say so and help you find licensed care instead.

Where we work

Our home base is Miami, and we cover South Florida. We also have a team in Tampa Bay, serving Tampa, St. Petersburg, and Clearwater with birth doula, postpartum doula, and overnight newborn care.

We take a limited number of families each month in each area so that the backup and coordination promises above actually hold. Not sure whether your address is inside our range? Ask; we confirm coverage before you commit to anything.

How families pay

Pricing is discussed on the consultation, because a plan for a family expecting twins looks nothing like a plan for a second-time mom who needs three nights a week. What we can say here is how payment works. MotheRetreat is an approved provider with Carrot and Maven, so if your employer offers family benefits through either platform, a large part of your support can be billed through your benefit. For the balance, families can pay over time with Affirm — as low as 0% APR, interest-free plans available. Subject to eligibility. See lending terms at affirm.com/disclosures.

What families say

We would rather you read the reviews than take our word for it. MotheRetreat holds a 4.9 rating on Google across more than 190 reviews and a 5.0 rating on Yelp.

Start with a conversation

Every engagement begins the same way: a short consultation with Olga, where she asks about your due date or your baby’s age, how you are sleeping, who else is at home, and what you want the first months to feel like. From there you get a written plan, a named doula, and a clear quote. Book that call on our contact page, or start from the home page if you want to look around first.
