Prenatal and Postpartum Education Classes

We offer our course in a personalized manner, either through private in-person sessions in the comfort of your home or  online. 

The full course  typically lasts around 6 hours, which we usually divide into 2 sessions for convenience and engagement. During course we do “hands on” practices and you can invite all your family members.

The course comprises four sessions: 

– Childbirth

– Postpartum

– Newborn care

– Breastfeeding

Prenatal and Postpartum Education Classes

We provide a full course that includes all classes listed below or you can shop by each class separately.

You will learn Everything about how childbirth takes place: how my body works, what I will feel, how to breath, what to pay attention to, and what is completely normal for my childbirth, how can I help the childbirth process, and what is not in my power, how can I maintain the necessary flow of hormones.

Understand how to know when you are in labor, and when to go to the hospital.
Find out when you need to ask for help during childbirth, and how to establish a dialogue with your medical provider. How to ask for information, and when to say “no” if presented with something that is not part of your birth plan, or having to make a quick decision. We will also talk about medical interventions and Cesarean deliveries, and how to reduce the risks of psychological trauma.
Life after birth. Learn basic baby care, what to expect in the first few days and weeks with a newborn.
You will also find out about how to recover quickly from childbirth

Breech baby

If you have a baby that is in a breech position (bottom first!) We will teach you how to help him roll over and get into an optimal position for birth. We will guide you on where to find a suitable specialist that can help you professionally, and teach you different positions and practices for turning a baby that you can do by yourself.We will also touch on basic information about a breech birth – with whom, where, and how.

Basic childbirth class

Breastfeeding basics class

Learn everything you need to know about breastfeeding. We will go over establishing a latch right after birth, how to help you baby latch in general, when to expect your milk to “come in”, and basic breastfeeding anatomy. We will also go over different breastfeeding positions, breastfeeding after a C-section, how to deal with supply when there is not enough or too much milk, pumping basics, how to treat engorgement and overcoming different breastfeeding obstacles.

Natural childbirth

For all of those looking to give birth in the most natural way possible. We will show you  how you can prepare your body for childbirth without medical intervention, what to eat, how to move, who to take as birth partners, where to watch pregnancy, how to tune in to childbirth, and how to stop worrying and gain confidence and peace of mind! We will also show you different practical exercises that can be done throughout pregnancy will help you have a successful natural childbirth.engorgement and overcoming different breastfeeding obstacles.

Cesarean birth

This class will tell you all you need to know about having a cesarean birth. We will start with how to prepare for a c-section birth, what is a “gentle cesarean”, and why it can be beneficial to you and your baby, and the risks/ benefits of a cesarean birth. We will discuss how to find a doctor and the right place for a c-section, how to organize the first 24 hours after birth, the first meeting of the baby, how to arrange breastfeeding after birth, and how to properly heal during the postpartum.

Emotional balance

Pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum can all be very challenging and emotional times. Learn how you can tune into the good and gain confidence, what anxieties are normal for pregnant women, how to understand that everything is okay, how to calm the nervous system, and how to emotionally prepare for birth. We will also touch on postpartum depression and anxiety, how to deal with both, what you can do about mood swings, how to deal with hormonal changes, and different techniques that can bring you peace and a sense of calm. Also learn how to reach out for support when you need it. 

Comfort measures + pain relief class

We will cover all of the different natural pain relief techniques such as the “correct” breathing methods, massage, postures for pushing and contractions. Learn which natural techniques really work! How to move during labor for optimal comfort and how to help resolve various situations that arise during birth? We go over different positions for labor that will help your baby come out better and faster; how to get your baby in the optimal birth position; and positions that can help ease labor pain. We will go over Spinning Babies techniques that are widely praised for their success rate during pregnancy and labor, and how/ when to use each one.

We will talk about the different tools for positions such as a yoga ball and peanut ball. You will find out about what position to push in, how to do self-massage, what aromatic oils to use should I prepare for childbirth and after, and which acupressure points that stimulate uterine contractions and help with relieve pain.

We will also touch on the modern medical interventions for pain; and the pros and cons of each one, so that you can make informed decisions for your birth plan. 

Place to give birth and your birth team

Learn how to choose a place for childbirth that best suits your wants and needs. Learn the differences between giving birth at hospital, birth center and at your own home. Find out the difference risks and benefits for each one, as well as the difference between natural childbirth, waterbirth and a medical birth. We will overview of hospitals, and your rights and choices. Also expect to learn what kind of details to think about in advance, how the atmosphere affects childbirth, what you are able to eat and drink during labor, your partner’s role during birth, and how/ where you can give birth like this.

We will go over how to choose the right medical provider for you- whether a doctor and / or midwife. As well as when you need a doula, the roles of each person on your birth team, and how they can work together during labor. Learn how to practice dialogue with your doctor, midwife and doula; and how to have effective conversions aimed at solving; as well as using language that makes the birthing process gentle, mindful, and respectful.

VBAC

Have you had one or more previous cesarean births, and are ready to try for a vaginal birth? If so, this is the perfect class for you! Learn everything you need to know how to have a successful VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean)! We will discuss important details, the risks and benefits, how to prepare, how to heal, if you can use an epidural and other medical interventions, how to find the right specialist, and what to negotiate in advance.

Emily is a mother of two and has lived on the Treasure Coast for over 17 years. She is certified as a Labor and Postpartum Doula through ProDoula. She has a passion for Doula work and the families she serves.

As your Doula, Emily will support you in your choices, along with providing knowledgeable advice, giving you peace of mind and comfort during your labor and postpartum care. Empowerment, love, care, connection, and understanding are the pillars that Emily stands on in her everyday life, bringing those same morals into the care she provides her clients.
