About MotheRetreat

We are about humanized maternity

For many years we have been studying, learning and collecting new and important information about childbirth; not only medical, but also psychological. We also study the birth and postpartum traditions of different cultures and different countries.

In our business, we rely on evidence-based medicine and international research; while also striving to maintain a respectful attitude towards the opinion and wish of the mother. We believe that she is the one who intuitively knows what is best for herself and her child. As such, we understand that this is all in the context of the uniqueness of the history of each woman. We strive to help each woman find her place, and to realize what exactly it is that she needs to smoothly transition into motherhood. Our goal is that all women feel satisfied and happy with their birth experience.

In this circle we are more than glad to open our space to new women that are beginning their journey.  Our idea is that everyone we work with  feels understood and comfortable  to open up among us, to be themselves, to express themselves, and to feel themselves.

Our main value is following and respecting the choices of each woman. We do not preach certain childbirth methods, the “correct” way to parent, or any rigid concepts. We are ready to accompany women during their birth, whatever they may be. Each birth is different and it is important for us to be flexible and ready for each unique experience.

My aim is that every mother feels grounded, nourished, empowered and ready to take on motherhood! I make sure that each woman that works with us is receiving physical and mental care both before and after birth, evidence based knowledge to make informed decisions, and one of one support from her village of professionals in the field during this transitional time.

As a mother myself, I know what it feels like to be pregnant, and to have the anxiety and fear of the unknown take over. I know the concerns about how to care for the life of a newborn child and how this new addition may change a family dynamic. I know the desire to want to be a perfect mother, and the fear of not knowing everything and wondering how I will ever learn it all. I understand all of these concerns, which are absolutely valid- and I want to take the weight of these worries off of your shoulders so that you are not going through this fragile time alone.

Birth & Postpartum Doula

I decided to become a doula after my own giving birth and postpartum experience. The doula that I have chosen during my first pregnancy made such a difference in my own process of becoming a mother along with my husband’s becoming a father. At that point I felt that I was able to make a similar difference for someone else.

Assisting at any types of births – home, birthing center, and hospitals – is extremely enjoyable. They are all unique, not only due to their location but also due to the experience they provide. It is also always educational for me, as birth evidence changes and evolves quite often. My job as a birth worker allows me to provide the support that parents and babies need to ease the transition into the wonderful life of parenthood.

Being a Birth/Postpartum Doula, Childbirth Educator, and a Breastfeeding Counselor has brought so much fulfillment into my life. My biggest pursuit as a doula is to educate birthing families and also instill the confidence in them to be able to make decisions that fit best with their lifestyle.

Tiffany, a Jamaica native, is a birth and postpartum doula. She was ushered into birthwork after being called on to support others after having her own child. Tiffany, who is also a veteran, has been supporting families throughout the different phases of pregnancy since 2011.

After attending multiple doula trainings, she officially got certified as a Holistic Doula in 2019.

“I trust the birth process. I believe in the mother’s ability to birth and care for her baby. I also believe that babies know how to be born. I have a deep understanding of the emotional, physical and mental changes in pregnancy that often happen congruently. Because pregnancy and birth is not a linear experience, my goal is to help families build a container of support so that they feel supported, nourished and empowered during pregnancy and into postpartum.”

In addition to being a birth and postpartum doula, Tiffany is  NRP and CPR certified. She’s a midwife’s assistant and is also a placenta encapsulation specialist. She is currently enrolled in midwifery school at The Florida School of Traditional Midwifery working to earn her credentials as a Florida, Licensed Midwife.

Postpartum Doula

Her journey in birth work began as a certified birth and postpartum doula and breastfeeding counselor in 2015. Shortly after, she also became a birth assistant and began working alongside midwives in home, and birth center births. The more she learned about the process a woman’s body endures throughout and after pregnancy, the more intrigued she became. After reading various research papers and studies about placenta consumption, she realized the benefits were outstanding, and that every mother should have the opportunity to learn about these life-changing benefits as well.

She soon became a certified Placenta Encapsulation Specialist, receiving Blood borne Pathogens and OSHA’s Safe Food Handling Certifications. After founding Your Body Your Birth Your Baby in 2016 she began servicing Mama’s with placenta encapsulation services all throughout Miami Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, and Port St. Lucie Counties. She is now proud to be servicing Mama’s nationwide!

She is fluent in English and Spanish and has a background in nursing, midwifery and psychology. She believes that every birthing person deserves to experience the amazing benefits of placenta encapsulation.

Birth and postpartum doula

Being a Mother and a Doula is my way of living and my calling. Helping mothers-to-be and new parents became not only my job, but my passion.

As a mother of five naturally born children, and more that 20 years of learning, full of happy and painful moments, I believe I have knowledge and experience to share. I am grateful to mothers and families for allowing me to be present in their sacred spaces and to share with me their important and unforgettable periods of life.

I know that women do have their inner wisdom they should trust and use always, and especially during pregnancy and at birth. I love the ways in which doulas can bring comfort and support to women at birth and to the new moms – helping to enjoy their motherhood, to become confident and happy.

As a HypnoBirthing instructor I believe that using the resources of our bodies and minds, and intuition, helps to achieve the goal of having more peaceful and joyful birth.

Birth and postpartum doula

I was blessed with three beautiful souls, who call me «mom» 100 times a day. My third pregnancy guided me into Eastern medicine and nontraditional methods of taking care of myself and my babies. It is where my journey of becoming a doula started. In 2020 while obtaining certification of Health Coach I learned about the existence of this profession  and realized that this is what I was meant to do. My personal pregnancies and labor experiences motivated me to get education in order to help other mothers.

My goal as a birth doula is to empower and support women while guiding them on their personal journey of becoming a mother. My approach is very diverse and never the same, as I adhere to clients specific needs and asks.

For my postpartum care I like to think of myself as Mery Poppins: I come to your home for a little while, help you create the best routine for your family, and then leave having you feel more confident, educated and empowered to make decisions on your own.

Also, as a part of my services I offer “Thai Herbal Compress Massage” and “Warm oil massages”. I received certification in those, because I strongly believe in natural approach when it comes to our bodies. Massages like this help moms to heal faster emotionally and physically.

In addition, my certification as a Health Coach comes in handy when I create well balanced and nutrient dense meals for my moms during my postpartum visits. I can also help to build personalized menus for the weeks to come to ensure mom and the baby thrive.

Luz specializes in documenting families and the most important events in their lives.

She’s been photographing families since 2010, but the birth of her daughter in 2016 taught her that having a certified birth photographer to document the birth was the best decision she could have made. That’s when she realized she wanted to give other moms that possibility as well. She doesn’t just capture moments during birth. She captures the whole birth story in an emotional and artistic way. Even though Birth can be raw, Luz makes sure that you remember your birth story in a beautiful way.

She’s certified by CPBP (Certified Professional Birth Photographer), she’s an active member of DFP (Documentary Family Photographers), IAPBP (International Association of Professional Birth Photographers) and PPA (Professional Photographers of America) and has received several Birth and Documentary Photographer awards for her birth photos. Her work has also been published in the Everyday Birth Magazine.

Luz has also a doula certification with Still Birthday Association and volunteers for NILMDTS (Now I lay me down to sleep).

She has experience not just as a photographer, but also accompanying moms through all different birth settings.

Birth & Postpartum Doula

I am a certified doula and Licensed Massage Therapist with a specialization in prenatal and postpartum massage. I am currently pursuing certification in craniosacral therapy for infants.

I was told about doula work and decided to pursue it. While not finding this work through having babies of my own, it was abundantly clear that I couldn’t wait to have babies to help others have theirs. I fell head over heels in love with this work, and now I can’t imagine doing anything else.

It was a bumpy ride to get there, but she finally enrolled in Palm Beach State College’s massage therapy program. After graduation and receiving her massage license, she promptly received certification as a doula from BEST Doulas, as well as continuing education in perinatal massage. Next, she is pursuing certification in craniosacral therapy for infants in order to better help and support all families.

Birth & Postpartum Doula

Hi! My name is Carlota, but you can call me Charly for short :)

I was born in Spain but in 2010 I moved to Norway, where I went through the biggest life transformation anyone can experience: I became a mother… 3 times!!!

Through my children I discovered a strength I did not know existed within me; a passion to nurture and comfort others; an immense wish to help and support other women, and I learned that, in words of Dr. Michel Odent, “in order to change the world, we must first change they way we are born”.

And so it began my career in the maternity field.

I have been working with and for women and their families since 2015, in person and online, during their pregnancy, labor and post partum, and I have loved every minute of it!!!

But by far, my biggest school and training have been my children, thanks to whom I have experience in:

  • mainstream medicalized hospital birth
  • natural water birth
  • Seen first hand how a trained doula can impact our birth and post partum
  • 2 years tandem nursing
  • 11 years total breastfeeding (with all its ups and downs you can think of)
  • Homeschooling
  • Kangaroo Care and it’s benefits
  • And sleep deprivation XD

Now that I have moved to the USA I am happy to continue my professional journey and to share my experience, my passion and my positive mindset with your family and give forward the support I was so thankful to receive when I needed it most

My name is Mildred, most people call me Millie.

I am a Birth Arts International certified doula. I was certified in October 2018. I am also a senior student midwife and midwife assistant.

My primary passion lies in educating parents about the birthing process and preparing parents to make informed decisions.

I am a firm believer that a mother’s intuition and exceptional understanding of her own body are to be respected, as no one knows it better than she does. However, it is vital to be sure that the decisions made throughout the birthing process are not driven by fear. All too often, fears derive from an unfamiliar or unclear understanding of the natural unfolding of birth or what providers say, especially if it is an overwhelming amount of information. I aim to support parents in the importance that they have a birth team that warmly accepts their birth plan and wholeheartedly addresses their questions, recognizing that they are active participants in this extraordinary journey of parenthood. I am committed to equipping expectant parents with the information and tools they need to confidently face any challenges that may arise ensuring a safe and empowering experience for both mother and their precious newborn.

My name is Monica Alejandra L and I believe birth is a sacred God given gift and a natural physiological process. I am passionate about all things women wellness, birth and motherhood. As a traditional birth and postpartum doula, practical nurse and fertility awareness educator my mission is to mother the mother by helping women tap into their innate feminine wisdom. I see birth as a rite of passage, and so is caring for women in their birth spaces. I have a profound calling to help moms feel empowered during their birth experience, educated and have informed consent during their birth process by combining science  based resources + traditional birth approaches.

I am completely humbled and honored to be invited in a mother’s birth journey and it is a privilege to be of service by holding space, providing guidance, and ensuring that every mother I serve feels supported and cherished through pregnancy, birth, and  postpartum. Birth & Postpartum Doula

A little bit about me- I grew up biracial in the state of Delaware and moved to FL seventeen years ago.

I consider myself to be predominantly calm and a lover of all life forms. I received my master’s in clinical social work at FSU and am on a slow and steady path to becoming a licensed therapist, along with being a birth/postpartum doula.

I have worked as a nanny/babysitter for the last 14 years and have a strong interest in child neurological and environmental development. I also have a fascination with the nervous system and often explore ways in which I can keep it relaxed and regulated. I was led to the path of doula service about a year after my son was born.

I am a nurturer at heart and have only thrived in occupations that either foster the wellbeing of children, plants, or animals- so becoming a doula was right up my ally! My goal is to be the support that a mother and her family need- whether it be an emotional, physical, informational, advocative, or empowering influence for her.”

Birth & Postpartum Doula

Hello, My name is Wendy. I emigrated from South Africa to the U.S. at the age of six.

My father opened his own business when I was about 10 years old. Because my father required the help of my mother, I was often tasked with watching my younger siblings, including my newborn baby sister.

Crazy; but by age 12, I knew I wanted a career working with young children. I had my first child at 19, and know the struggles and fears of a young mother. Throw in breastfeeding struggles and a colicky baby, and well, you’ve got yourself an adventure! My secondborn was a late preemie, and due to cholestasis, had to have an emergency induction.

Complications at birth resulted in her spending some time in the NICU. My philosophy is always to find beauty in the simplest things life offers. I am a voracious reader who loves learning new things and enjoys instilling a love of learning through homeschooling my two kids.

I take a positive, peaceful parenting approach in my neuro-spicy household. I am pet-friendly and good with multiples.

Birth & Postpartum Doula

My name is Angelina. I am a postpartum doula, doing swaddling ceremonies, belly adjustment. I am also a mom of three sons.

As a multi-mom, I know very well how necessary for a woman care and support in such an important stage of her life – the birth of a baby. The more qualitatively passed the postpartum period, the faster will be the recovery, both physical and emotional.

Modern realities are such that a woman is often left alone with a baby after childbirth.

In the olden days, in labor and after, there were always women around who took care of the young mother, shared knowledge about motherhood and helped to restore the body and mind into a whole.
I will become such a woman for you, guide and support you on this new path.

Postpartum Doula

Hey there! I’m Marlisa (Lisa) Greene, a Labor & Delivery Doula and Postpartum Doula.

My hobbies include painting, baking, and gardening. I was born and raised in Broward County by my HUGE Bahamian family.

In 2017, I started my collegiate career at Florida A&M University. I graduated with an A.A. in Pharmaceutical Sciences in Dec 2019 and a B.S. in Allied Health Sciences in April 2021. Shortly after graduating, I began continuing my education, including birth worker trainings.

My top priority is educating and creating an empowering experience for your family. I became a doula to serve the underserved, women who look like me.

I want to committee myself to something that I am passionate about, but I could also mold, grow, and call my own. I feel called to support women during the most vulnerable and sacred moments of pregnancy, labor, delivery, and postpartum. I am a natural nurturer; I want to make sure that those around me feel welcomed, safe, loved, and cared for.

I couldn’t think of any better way to use my gift other than to service birthing women.
